List, the method i use on all of my rods is the same. The first leader i tie on a
line i tie with a nail knot. After the mono leader wears out i tie a SMALL perfection
loop as close to the line as i can get it. I'm guessing the line test is 30 or 40lb
so I'm not worried about it breaking. I tie the knot, trim excess, and coat the knot
with zap a gap and then with hard as nails. It is a smooth finish when you trim it
short and is very strong. After some use the loop "flattens out" and is not bulky.
You can do this with plain 20 or 25lb mono too or if going heavier (like how i do it
my 8 wt) use 30 or whatever in to the largest tippet you will use. My .01 cent, Matt
