I use a product called Theraband as a wing case
material. It is a rubber material that comes in a strip 6 inches wide and about
4 feet long. It is used as physical therapy tool to rehab knees, ankles, etc. It
comes in several colors and becomes translucent when stretched. I stumbled onto
this when my wife had knee surgery and was using the theraband in her recovery.
I started cutting off a couple of inches at a time and slicing it into strips
with a razor blade. I like to think that the extra effort required to stretch
out the shortened strip hastened wifey's recovery. Alas I was busted and had to
get her a new strip. It was a different color and she noticed me eyeing it. It
is now under lock and key and I anxiously await her full recovery so I can add
this to my materials supply. It takes a marker well and is easy to work with.
Doesn't slide out when tied in, stays put. Pharmacies, Therapists and physicians
have it. My son is a sports medicine doc and is now my source. Best time of the
year for harvesting Theraband is football season, although the macho football
types don't seem to like the pink color I use for scud backs, need to find a
wounded gymnast for that.
