St Croix makes some great entry level rods. If my memory serves me there is a Premium and a Pro Graphite. I really like these rods and I have them in weights I don't use much like 8 weights. For reels, Okuma makes a really nice reel that would balance out perfectly with a 3-4 weight rod. Good Luck
