Hey Guys,

I am currently teaching my two girls tie flies. They are 5 and 7 year old.
My older 2 boys are pretty good tyers, and have been in some swaps.

My girls asked me if they could start tying flies. Both girls look forward
to tying flies. We tie flies every night just about, never very many -
usually 2 or 3 at the most by each of my girls.

They like tying anything that has pink in it. Wally would like their
patterns. So far, they have mostly tied up glo bugs, wooly buggers and
double bunnies. They haven't got the hang of whip finishes yet, but they do
tie a serviceable fly.

Other patterns that would be good for kids to learn to tie would be the
various rubber spiders (no super glue), soft hackles, micro jigs, wooly
worms, and simple midge nymph patterns (in larger sizes).

It can be a lot of fun.

Cheers,

Alberta Al
