I actually 'scored' some original Potts flies this weekend, 4 of them still
on the cards, unused, and two sandy mites not on cards. ( I got the flies,
a swiss champ mini for a vest zinger, and a nice filet knife in trade for a
mouse) I'll take some photos and post them on somebody's site somewhere.
These all have the woven hair hackles. I know a magazine awhile back had
the procedures to weave hair like Potts and Grant, but I can't remember who
and when. I've been in possession of a sandy mite for about 20 years, and
I've figured out how to do the 'belly-weave' pretty well to create the
segments on the bodies, but I've never bothered to weave the hair. I'd like
to see the pamphlets to see how close I was able to come to the original
technique.
