Physical therapists use latex strips about 8 inches wide which come on rolls and are cut to length. They come in grey/black; green; blue; yellow; and red. The colors indicate different resistance to stretching, which is why the strips are dispensed. They are used to rehab muscle and joint problems. The grey/black make great wing cases for darker nymphs. Just slice them to the proper width with a razor blade and the tighter you stretch them the lighter and more transparent the color. Green = caddis; red = shrimp/scud; etc. Thery take markers well.  I got mine from my wife- partial knee replacement. Shorter bands mean quicker rehab, or so I tell myself to excuse cutting off 6 inches at a time. Wifey's therapist is saving roll ends for me. You might check with nurse, physician or therapist friends to get the stuff. Even the orderly could cop a few inches. The price is right and it works well.
