Hey Chris,
McCumber Lake is a fun place to float tube. Sometimes, it produces better than any of the other lakes or streams in the area. It's also one of the few places that allows year-round fishing. There is another lake nearby, that I think is superb, North Battle Creek Reservoir. It's a little to the north on dirt roads but has some excellent Brown Trout fishing. I hope your wife comes to a speedy recovery. Maybe, after all the TLC you provide she'll approve of another fishing sortie soon.
