Hi Folks,

Just got back from taking the kids to Yellowstone. They had a great time and
we got to fish a little. The fishing seemed to be a little off compared to
other years past. The weather was very hot with thunderstorms every night
except one out of the week. In fact the gibbons, Madison, and firehole were
closed below the falls to protect the fish. Slough creek was a lot of fun in
the pocket water between the campground and the first meadow but the
mosquitoes bit way more then the fish so beware. There were also numerous
fires started by lightning while we where there one 9000 acres last I saw,
something tells me that being this early in the year it's going to be a bad
one this summer. I got to try out a number of swap flies and my hat goes off
to John Sanders for the "airhead" my gosh John, that fly caught a lot of
fish on both the Lamar river & Slough creek. By far more than any other fly
I used the whole trip. Did they take it for a hopper? cricket?... not sure
but it was a great searching pattern. We also ran in to bears on Middle
creek & Slough creek so pepper spray wouldn't be a bad idea although I
didn't have any, well gotta go... more later...
