[VFB] Cork Grips

So I am working on my first rod building project and I had to change real seat I was planing on using. My problem is now I using a standard real seat but my grip is for a Pac Bay flush mount. Can I just cut the notch out my self? Is it just a notch or is the ID of the grip an odd shape as well?
