Thanks, Chris.  No, I wasn't ashamed, but some of it did aggravate me.....

EVERYONE,

I never meant to Insult,Belittle, talk down to or make anyone feel bad with my views on trimming hackles being different from theirs. Rick ask for one's views on the quote and i submitted mine. I just voiced my views on the subject. I did get abit Heady about it as I feel that beginners on this list are going to think that it's probally Ok not tying with the Great Genetic Necks & Saddles Now available to tyers, if they only see posts saying it's fine to trim hackles.... in MY VIEW they are going to handicap themselves something fierce if they only use the low end stuff & not venture into the Quality Genetic stuff out there.

I do not claim to know everything about fly tying, if i got that lame attitude, i'd have quit tying years ago & found something else to do... having that attitude is fatalistic to your advancement in tying. On the same token, accepting flies you've tyed & can tell are not the best you can tye is fatalistic... One should always push themselves to improve & evolve as a Tyer..  This also applies to materials, one should try to buy the BEST MATERIALS one can. The Best Materials make tying a joy & make constructing a fly alot easier, the end result will always be better.

I wish that alot of the Great materials available nowadays were available back in my formative years, I Know I would have improved at a faster pace. Truth be known, I avoided tying Dryflies in my formative years for that exact reason...the Chinese/Indian necks Sucked for decent hackle on dryflies. I used them for Wetflies & streamers and still do to this day. then in the early/mid 80's the genetic stuff began showing up alot more...that's when Dryflies started to come on for me....

I apologize one last time if I upset anyone, I did not mean to. I'll avoid from here on out giving my oppinion on anything...if you do not say a damn thing...everyone is happy...
