My two pence worth....
It seems like I am in good company...I let my subscription to Fly Tyer
lapse. Haven't missed it. I do occasionally buy a copy...not often.
The only fly tying mag that I subscribe to as of now is Fly Fishing and Fly
Tying (this is the UK magazine...not the journal from the states).
It has maintained a high degree of quality (compared to many of the other
paper-sinks out there). This magazine definitely leans toward the UK styles
of fly patterns/techniques, etc. (shocker!)...but it is very interesting and
has some great techniques. I have used some of the flies offered in FF&FT
over here with varying degrees of success (note - I have also used my flies
with varying degrees of success).
It is a bit more expensive, but, in my opinion, worth the price. If anyone
is interested, check out the website at
http://www.flyfishing-and-flytying.co.uk/.
Best to all.
Chris
