Well, that is kind of a tradition in various locales I've lived in, not just the south, either. High powered rifles and high proof liquor. I'm old now, so of course I don't do that anymore, just flyfish (there's the FF content, just to show we're paying attention). Kind of curious who those boys insurance carrier is and how much they have to pay.
