I
tied a duckfly for Jimmy's March Madness swap last year. It is
listed on Rene's site. This has been one of my better patterns over the
last couple of seasons. If you like I could take a picture of some of my
duckflys so that you can get a good idea. One thing though. In
most articles that I have read the say that you need big flies. In my
experience you wont need a fly bigger that a size 14. Maybe a few 12's
but don't focus on that size range. The orange wing buds are
critical. I have spooned a few fish that I have caught over the last few
years and the wing buds are a very vivid orange. I tie the epoxy buzzers
with Holographic Gold tinsel for the wing buds. I also use goose
biots. I have heard Denis and a few other tiers talk about this Crisp
packet. Apparently the orange is perfect. Denis what was the name
of that packet again? Ashley, Are you going to Corrib this year
for some Duckfly fishing? If so let me know when and where and I'll
arrange to meet up with you for a beer if I am there at the same
time.
Kev
