I purchased some comparadun hair from linesend recently. Very fine and short
stuff.
Byard, is it from a deer mask? Are there other parts on the body which
offers comparadun hair?
What makes deer hair to become comparadun hair?
Inquiring minds....

Rene...

Compara Dun hair is generally fine or small in diameter. The length can vary. Some masks have very nice hair but usually it is quite short which can make it difficult to work with. As has been said before, deer hair can vary greatly from one critter to the next...as well as from one part of the deer to the next. I've found some wonderful hair on the cape area.

Finding the perfect hair for a particular job can be a never ending quest. I am always on the lookout for the "just right" piece. I was almost in tears the other day when I clipped the final hairs from a piece that I have been hoarding...it was the perfect CDC & Elk winging material...perfect length...perfect flair...very little under fur...softly tanned. The tears are welling up again thinking of it's ultimate sacrifice...;^) The search goes on!
