Got a picture? Sounds like something that attaches to the side of your
workbench to hold wood while you pound on it.

HA HA, I would expect something like that out of DonO, but not from you since you are always so serious. Go to ebay and in their search box type in hammerhead vise and PRESTO there is a pic of it.
