Ed , Hello
I have a lot of time in this area and have a spot for you to try out and
see if it is a producer, I have taken a lot of winter fish (Steelhead) in
this spot.
Ok here we go get ready to take these directions down , As soon as you
cross over the railroad tracks on your way to the flies only stretch
continue down the road a little ways until you find the access on the
right hand side of the road. there is a D.N.R. sign and a small fence
like area with an opening in it, Park here and there may already be a
few cars parked there, this is not the perfered spot to park because many
of the guys like to go all the way to the end of the road and turn right
into the Famous green cabin area, this parking area is maybe a half mile
more up the road. WAY TO MANY PEOPLE use that area, so use the first one
I told you about on the right side of the road.
Are you still with me, Now ounce you get on the trail, it will take you
right to the river, it is a little walk but well worth it, when you get
to the river the trail goes left on the river and right on the river, GO
RIGHT walk about a hundred yards or so and there is a pretty good
horseshoe style bend , the head of this bend is EXCELLENT fishing ,and if
you walk 25 or 30 yards up river you will see that the bank will begin to
become VERY STEEP,and on top of the steep bank is a cabin and there is a
set of stairs that come down to the river and there is a small bank side
dock there and this spot is on another bend maybe 75 yards from the first
bend I described , in order to get to the inside of this bend, where you
need to fish it from you MUST cross the river back at the head of the
first horseshoe bend. Use egg patterns and small nymphs and you should do
well. I would stay on these two holes ALL DAY don,t move stick it out,
you may see a few guys but most of the crowd stays down by the Green
Cabin area. there is a good map of this area and a excellent
informational page at flyanglersonline.com go to the rivers section and
look up the PM. I have taken fish in and over the 15 lb range here, I
hope this was not to long winded for you. let me know how you did and if
you found it.
God Bless
Scott Crosby
