What we have here..is a failure to communicate.  The boy don't want no fly that catches a gill once in a while, but one that catches one after the other.  My daughter caught 70 on this pattern in about two hours or less when she was in grade school.  Can't say if some got caught more than once as she practiced C&R and it was her first time fishing, first time with a flyrod...okay, she was dapping.  The pattern?  See below.

Green Weenie-
Hook- #16-18 standard dry (or wet)
Thread- 8/0 black
Body- flor. yellow micro chenille
Tail- same as body

Make a loop tail about a gape or so long and strip the very ends down to the string to tie in at the bend.  Tie in chenille for the body at the bend and wind forward.  Whip finish a small black thread head.  The tail might give an illusion of motion.  I fish this without weight so it drifts slowly down.  Trout will circle this at the very least and gills slam it.
