I was shown a beautiful Y&E Model B (i assume - size was right) Automatic Fly Reel.
It was made out of what appears to be stainless steel (and weighs a ton). It was made by Yawman & Erbe Mfg. Co., Rochester, NY. The patent dates on the side of the reel were: "Pat'd Feb18, '88 - June 16, '91"
It is a beautiful reel in mint condition (still works), in the original box with the original package inserts. I got a chuckle out of a couple of the items on the insert. One was a woodcut of a woman fishing with one of the reels - very properly in a long dress with high-button shoes. The other was a warning that said, in effect,
"If you have trouble with this reel, send it back to the manufacturer for
repair. If you try to fix it yourself the odds are that you will never be
able to re-assemble it."
Any info about the Y&E series, including value, would be greatly appreciated. TIA
