David,
Like jim said, I would wait until you've been in a couple of swaps before hosting your own. It actually is a slight challange. However, if your interested in hosting your own, everyone here will be glad to help you if you have any questions, myself included. I would definatly limit it to a small swap. 10-12 people is a great size for a swap. Im pretty sure you could get a 10 person swap with streamers. They're pretty easy to tie, and alot of fun to tie and fish. Make a plan before you start it. Set your start and finish date, if only in your head. Most swaps DONT run smoothly, so you'll have to push the date back further, but its no biggy. Once you have your idea down, make an announcement to the list, and keep track of everyone that signs up, along with their email address. Good luck!!

Subject: [VFB] How do I start a Swap?
Date: Tue, 8 Jul 2003 10:01:57 -0400

Being the inexperienced fly tier that I am, I have been watching the list and waiting for a good swap so I can begin to get involved. Unfortunately, I havent been able to jump in, either because the flies are too advanced, or the shear number of flies is too intimidating. So I was thinking that I could start a swap, limited to 25, and perhaps make it all on streamers. (a fairly simple fly to tie for beginers) So I am posing this question to the group, should I do this, or should I wait until a swap rolls my way? And also, would anyone be interested in a streamer swap? I see that there hasnt been one in a little while.

Anyways, I am looking for suggestions right now, and feel free to contact me either through the list, or off the list, I welcome any suggestions or advice that you can offer.

Thanks,
David
