[VFB] yet another dyeing question

I have some white wingers (whiting).  I bought them from flytyervariant.com .  I wanted to dye one to get a med to light dun color.  I tried rit dye, pearl gray.  I left the cape in there about 2 minutes too long and ended up with a dark dun.  When I put the neck into the dye bath, I should have just immediately have taken it out, probably would have been perfect.  Does anyone know of another rit color that would give me a light to med dun?
