I often see these materials mentioned in patterns, most recently in an caddis emerger, and am slightly confused. I have poly yarn and it comes in a long multi-strand lengths 2ft long. I also have antron dubbing but this is fairly short, at least shorter strands and came to me as a dubbing.
This particular pattern calls for antron to be tied in at back of hook and brought foward, tied to flare slightly and form a bubble shape.
Are there different types of antron??, could I use the poly-yarn for this fly, as it would aide floatation or is there a different effect gained by using the antron??
To be honest, and it is probably very obvious, I am not too familiar with these materials.
Cheers,
Loxy
