Hi Keith, we (the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild) bought 15 vises from Renzetti and i think he gave 'em to us for about $50 each because we use them mostly with children. Fortunately for our adult classes, we use the classroom at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum, so there's no need to haul our vises over there because they have plenty. We take the Renzettis' on the road with us. They are the Traveler model(s), of course. So, you might try contacting that company. Also they make some very nice tools. One is a double sided hair stacker on which one side is so small you can stack individual hackle fibers, like CDL for Caddis wings. I'd also call some of the tool companies to ask for donations to the project. You'd be surprised how co-operative they can be when the word "kids" comes up. They write it off their taxes and it makes them look good when you give 'em some play in print. I got a free pair of sissors from Dr. Slick, simply because i promised them a write up (review) in our (CFTG) newsletter. "One never knows....................do one." Fats Waller. mark.............p.s. wanna read the review........go to www.njflyfishing.com lol...

Sometime back I sent several vises to one of the listers who was also wanting to give classes to kids. If they are still on the list and are done with the vises perhaps they will pass them on to you.

Married men should forget their mistakes. There is no need for both to keep remembering them.

Hi all, Keith here. I have a question and I know that I have seen many posts about the topic in the past, but I am looking to start some tying classes in my area...especially for children. Can anyone give me some info on how they do it? Is it necessary to provide them with vices? I suspect I would include materials with all classes but as far as tools go what is the norm there? I will probably station it at my home as I can fit a good number in the dining and living area. I'm sure I could work something out with Byard to supply them with vices but I am not sure what protocol is there.
Thanks -- Bear
