I guess I have said it 1000 times, there is nothing new in flytying except the materials.
This tying method is a real no brainier so I guess anyone can come up with it if I could.
I bet there are others that feel they invented it other than you me and Jim. LOL
I decided I would tie some of these variations at the Sowbug along with the woven Mayfly.
If I get time to tie with the youth group at the Sowbug, I will introduce them to this tying method.

This sounds very much like a fly I came up with that we call a Jim's
Special. I've known all along that it had probably been done already but I
did come up with it all on my own. I use 2 strands of krystal flash for
ribbing and barbell eyes. I also do them on a size 14 streamer hook with red
seed bead eyes. Very effective pattern on any species of fish.
Now to come up with something NOBODY has done before : )

Joyce, This is a real simple fly, I am sure I did not invent it but I came up with it about 15 years ago. Here ar the tying instructions. Hook: Whatever you like. I use a 3X long streamer hook Tail: Marabou Plume Body: Marabou plume Wing: Marabou plume. Select a blood marabou plume without a stem running down the middle Stroke the plume so all the ends are even with the end of the feather. Pinch about 1/4" of the end together, this will be the tail, Tie in the pinched end just over the hook barb, pull the rest of the plume back over the tie in point and over wrap. This covers the thread at the tie in point Advance the thread to the eye of the hook. If you want to renforce the body, twist the thread with the marabou instead of advencing the thread. Pull the plume up and twist it tight clockwise. This forms a rope. Wrap the rope on the shank forming the body. Tie off a bit behind the hook eye. When tying off, lift what is left of the plume so that it is straight up from the hook shank After tying it off, pull the plume back over the wrap and over wrap it forming the head.. Clip the remainder of the plume off leaving enough of the plume too form a wing or wing case. That is it. What we did at the tying session is add some Krystal flash in the tail and wing, cut off the whole wing and wrapped hackle collar, Ribbed the body and a few other things to enhance the fly. This same method can be used to tie emergers using antron yarn. This is the way I tie my "Still Born" and a number of other emergers. Tony
