Sitting here this morning, having a coffee and thinking about this one.  There is a product out there (and it's way to early to even think of the name) that when wiped on, takes the scratches out of the plexiglass (plastic) sides of aluminum truck caps.  Some caps have these on either side of the crank out windows.  I've seen the product and it works pretty well.  Another avenue to try.  If i ever come up with the name, i'll send it along.
