Clousers, clouser and more clousers...I'd also have some type of shrimp pattern, maybe a crab pattern, and might take a few crease flies. Of course I've got more flies to choose from than I'll ever be able to fish...
And john, some people fish some rock erosion barriers about 50 yds off the beach in the guld here in Louisiana on flat days. You can actually walk out to these rocks, so they usually pick a spot and drop a small anchor to keep the float tube in one spot and fish from it. The anchor is usually soemthing like a 1 lb coffee can filled with concrete. This does not work when the waves are over 2 ft. though. Fortunately that isn't very often down here. I usually don't do that (I've got all the equipment but I just use it in the inshore brackish lakes). I rather just wade and cast.
