Alex, we know a lady who actually has Caddis flies as her employees. She 
keeps them alive in aquariums and has them build jewlery for her. NO B.S. 
What she does is put all kinds of semi precious stones in the aquariums and 
they do the rest. She then molds/cast (i'm not exactly sure what) silver and 
or gold bugs, (just the part that would be sticking out of the case, alah 
"peeking" style), and then inserts those into the empty "case" that she has 
plucked the animals out of, and sent "back to work." I bought my wife one as 
a stick pin made out of abalone chips. It's very beautiful. She has them 
build them with pyrite (fools gold), turquoise, or anything you can think 
of. You can buy them as stick pins, pendents, whatever. Now............use 
your imagination. mark.......

Alex,
I have made some of the cased caddis in a couple of different ways. One 
that worked the best was using a sz 14 1X long hook.
Wrapped an underbody with lead wire and some narrow yarn.
Coated it with head cement and dropped it in my waste catcher on the vise. 
Rolled it around a bit. Took it out and did some trimming with the 
scissors, I had a cased caddis. I have used fine aquarium sand and debris 
from the yard.
