I agree Pete. First of all, i'm a slow tyer. Can't see any need at all for speed. Less of course your an unfortunate fool, and have to rely on fly tying to feed yourself, LMAO. In a case like that, i'd have to say, better you than me. The traditional Catskill fly tying style is such a beautiful art form, that why on earth anyone would wanna mess with it is way beyond me. Like you said, they work, have been workin' for bout a century, and will continue to work long as they are fished right. Plus they look GREAT! Sure there ARE times when a parachute will outfish them........cassionally,....... cassionally. You gonna go to all the trouble to wrap the hackle Catskill style, why do a post type wing? Sounds like someone who can't do a good Catskill style wing to me. Or maybe that's just their way of "trying" to make it more natural or some other cock-eyed explantion. LMAO. Who knows maybe they unknowingly been throwing flies to big for the tippits they been usin' (size 10 fly on 7X) and started thinkin' the wing was responsible for all them twist in the leaders, LOL. mark......

>Pete, the original is upright and divded as far as the dry fly goes.

Hi everyone,
Just to clarify, I was speaking of the dry - I didn't even know there was a wet, though I guess it makes sense. The hackle was wrapped "traditional", but the wings weren't divided. They were, however, upright - as a post. I've found the traditional 'divided' to be more to my liking... I figure any fly that can produce and stay around for such a long time is worth keeping the same in pattern. Just my 2 cents.
Thanks for all of the replies and tight wraps,
Pete
