I know this is not the ideal but I found that by using the Leisering Lift (sp?) technique, I did not strip in the line and therefore did not get ice on the guides - that is until you hook a fish and then it is worth the ice on the guides. None of the Vaseline's or other really worked for me. Hope this helps.
