You have a good handle on the purpose of swapping. I enter swaps to hone my own skills, pick up pattern/technique info, get feedback from others and get to know folks better. I'm 100% behind your comments regarding swappers putting their 100% into the flys they submit whether they are beginners or experts. Sometimes others will critique my entry or offer advice but not as often as I'd like. Probably some are afraid of hurting feelings or not quite comfortable with their perception of their own abilities. While sensitive, I gain a lot from input from others. Some tyers have great sense of proportions, others have mastered application of materials while a select few have mastered all the critical aspects. Everyone has something to share which is why I try to read as many listers' posts as possible.
