Allan, when i was in West (Y.) in Aug. i went to every fly shop in town, and there's quite a few in that town, like here. Bought stuff in all of them except one. Must of went back to Blue Ribbon three or four timnes though and bought more stuff each time. It's the best for materials for sure....selection and price. I've been collecting pheasent skins for bout the last four years. All different kinds. There's hardly a feather on 'em that can't be used. It's not pheasent, but get one of these if you can find one, Egyptian Goose. Has huge feathers on it that look exactly like Lemmon Wooduck only bigger. Forget what i paid for it, but it's beautiful. For any of you that don't get Jack's email newsletter, you SHOULD sign-up for it. It's always fun. He had a great deal last month or the month before, where you could take a tying lesson in the morning, and a guided fishing trip (using those flies) in the afternoon, for like $150. Was looking his regular disheveled self last weekend, but seemed to be in good health. Since we both have cab driving in common, i'm always kidding him about looking like he just woke up in the back of his. LMAO. mark...

I think there was some talk a bit ago about what feathers you can use from a phesant for tying. I just happened to run across this article and thought I would share.

Happy Tying,

Bart,

If you're really into pheasants, check Gartside's home (sales) page - he's got patterns, pattern books, and more articles.

BUT BUY YOUR MATERIALS FROM BYARD!
