Hair, fur, feathers may all be cleaned this way. Stay away from heat to dry.
Can be a problem with hair & fur, Just keep it turned and not allowed to
mold. If possible, let it dry at room temp in the house.  Small pieces are
easier to manage than a full hide. I know this is not possible in all homes
but being a single old guy, can :-)
One can use a hair dryer as long as you are careful. Too much heat will make
these items brittle. In the wild the animals get wet. All they have is
natural temp + added temp of their body. Just my 2� worth.
