Where do you find whites on the South San Gabriel. I catch them on the North at Camp Tejas, and I've caught them in the past on the main SG at Circleville, but that's too much of a zoo anymore. Never seen them on the south.

I went to Camp Tejas Sunday. Forgot to throw my waders in the truck so my fishing was limited. Just a very few small fish. Didn't see any whites, but if the lake and river stay up this high, should be a great year for fishing there this year.

Almost forgot to let you know how I fared with my fishing yesterday. I fished the South San Gabriel River, which is about 2 miles north of my ranch, near Leander, TX. I really wasn't expecting a lot of action, but the warm days we've had lately really brought the fish out. Yesterday's temp was 78 and wading was a pleasure, expecially on a hard, level bottom stream. I guess the San Gabriel would equate with some of the Chalk streams of the UK. I caught a bunch of assorted sunfish, mostly bluegills and warmouth. Caught them on some of Rick's and Ridderbos bluegill bugs. (They work well, guys). Most were about the size of your outstretched palm. Saw a few sand bass coming up stream to begin their annual spawn, but they were not interested in what I had to offer. But, by the end of the month and all through February, the Sandies will be on the rampage. Sometimes they get so thick in the water that it doesn't make much difference where you put your fly. When they're after shad, they are in a killer mode.
