Good day listers
After several years of this excursion, it seems to be settling in quite well with most folks.........
What? you ask...............
Salt water flyfishing for striped bass and blues and maybe someday even an albie out on the Cape..... small craft and wade fishing the flats with sight fishing , blind fishing or frenzy fishing approaches....
All much fun........ add to the mix the company of good friends, good food and drink, camping and flytying, and it's all good!
the humble beginning of this venture was, and still is, to introduce the fresh water FF'ers to a slightly new venue...... always been plenty of room for the experienced salty, especially those willing to pass on the knowledge and excitement they possess.....
This year sees the group branching out to include an additional fishing period. Although it really butts up against and around the mayfly hatches of the inland streams and rivers, the influx of fresh fish in great numbers in June cannot be denied. And, like a lot of fresh water fishing, things seem to slumber at a different pace soon afterward, through the dog days, and heat up again in the fall.
We have chosen the end part of the month for the new saltwater venture, so as not to interfere with the main mayfly hatches and the freshwater fishing.
The will be good folks from Striperheads (bastard spawn of FF@, VFB, and other fine internet FF lists) on the Cape fishing from June 17 through about the 28th, and the main clave, September 10th through the 19th....
the June outing group is loosely located in Area 4 of Nickerson's State Campground in Brewster, Mass. The September outing is centered in the traditional gathering spot of Area 2 near Flax Pond.
Reservations are opened for both locations as the 6 month standoff period is over..... there are spots still available in the general clave areas, but they won't last too long..... getting a place to stay on the Cape is never possible on short notice.... some up front commitment is necessary.... if you are interested, and wish some opinions on the open sites, before reserving (you never can tell from a 2 dimensional map), contact me, and I am sure I can be of some assistance.
The September outing is a full blown event with a culminating Clam Steam/ Pot luck dinner with events and the June trip is likely to be more oriented toward total fishing..... except for the accepted amount of food and drink and BS... :^)
Dates are posted on the FF@ website clave page, and below is the link to the camping reservations... all are welcome..
