Bob,

I spent big bucks to learn this;  80% of all jobs come from your network of friends/acquaintances and the othe 20% are in little percentages like headhunters, Internet postings, ect.  Call me some time and I'll share my $11,000 of consulting advice. (301-607-9047)  Funny, now I am a consultant.

When I lost my job, I was looking so hard that I didn't pay close attention to the Exec VP's emails who wanted to meet with me until months later.  I now have a new career and we just landed a big fish today which means I can add beans to my rice.
