As you've found out, there are a lot of bream fishers
on this list, including myself (no trout in Louisiana
either).  If you get to start tying, check out the
flies in the bass and panfish section of my website (
http://chemprof.tripod.com/fishing.html ) and go to
the Contraband Fly Casters website at
http://cbfc0.tripod.com and check out the flies by Tom
Nixon and the two Tom Nixon swaps (flies tied mainly
by tiers on this list.  All the suggestions givewn to
you so far will work well.  My favorite bream fly is a
gill getter (found on both sites).  If you are still
buying flies, I'd suggest small woolly buggers, a few
wooly worms, small clousers , small rubber spiders and
small poppers.  but I've caught a lot more bream on
flies I've tied than those I've bought.  Small trout
flies are often suprisiingly effective as well.
