Welcome Chuck! Sorry it's a day late a dollar short, but I figure it's better late than never when it comes to fishing advice...
I fish for bream all of the time (well, that is whenever I get a chance to go out fishing...) -- I use a 7' 4 weight currently, but I'm building a 6'6" 2weight rod as soon as REC sends the blank. Anyhow, the "killing-est" fly this last weekend (in SE PA (2 hours NNE of philadelphia), about 1pm til 3:30pm on the 4th of June) was a simple Sz. 16 Zug Bug pattern with the wing case made of a (chartruse- yellow / woodduck / lemon) dyed malard flank clipped the traditional short. Oddly, they didn't like pheasant tails with herl thoraxes, copper johns with herl, or even prince nymphs... all in the same sizes, just different patterns. Still trying to figure why, but for now, who cares - my dad caught a pumpkinseed bigger than my palm, and that's plenty proof enough for me! If you would like some of that chartruse malard flank, I *think* I have some left and would be more than happy to send some in an envelope to you. It may be a week before I can get to the post office, but it'll get out as soon as I can -- or I'll ask my wife to send it. She's home for the summer, being a school librarian, the lucky dog... Best of luck fishin' and tight wraps, Pete
