Ask dances or Byard how many boxes I used to carry. One day I fell in and had to lay all my boxes on the table to dry. I know we counted 20 or more.
No more! I now carry 1-4 boxes maximum and never run out of what I need. My problem was carrying too many boxes which had too many similar flys. Now I carry a row max, or more likely half a row of any one pattern in sizes appropriate to the conditions.
One of my boxes is labeled "ONE" because it contains all the flys I normally fish except buggers and other large patterns. When running out the door and having no time to decide, it is the box of 100 I choose out of 10,000 flys. Pity I'll never fish them all in this lifetime.
