I've found that clear, un-sudsing amonia added to 3% peroxide helps
the items to not get "bleach- burnt" and also encourages a slower,
though more uniform, bleaching action.  BUT the fibers do get "less
stiff" / more brittle... depends on the application, but I use the
amonia to peroxide in 50%/50% with great results.  DO NOT use the
amonia mix on rudiment byproducts (ie pig, cow, elk, deer, etc) as it
will flake the hair from the hide... and make a mess in the bucket or
sink you are using... and cause your wife to give you that "aww,
you're in trouble now..." look... ;)
