Dave, sorry for a late answer, I'm seldom at my email account and sometimes I overlook important things among all this banter and lols... The banter is ok, though. Uaually there are enough fish in the water, And we hope, that most of them reproduce naturally. The concept is, that they try to calculate how many pounds of fish a water can produce. You can do this, by calculating the amount of solar energy, which hits the water. This energy produces algae, and you can calculate how many shrimps and nymphs will feed on them. And finally from this amound of food you can determine how many pounds of fish are produced in the water. Taking the average size of fish, you can calculate how many fish can be kept by simply removing the new grown mass. At the very end, you divide this number by the number of licences for the water, and voila, you have the year limit for a fisherman. Stocking is intended only to revitalize a water, which might have been harmed by some accidend. On my home water the fishing club is not allowed to stock trout. Best Rene David Murphy wrote: Rene, I can follow their logic as many fish do not survive C&R. I also like their too small and too large rules for a variety of reasons. The only questions I have for you are the following; With the rules in place, do you believe that there are enough fish in these waters? Are the fish reproducing naturally? If your answers are both yes, maybe the rules are wise. If no...... Murf
