Vagn,
I will take this off list if no interest in bamboo by list members.
Before I do, you might talk to Rene a bit about this. He has been to my
little workshop and has had a short indoctrination in making bamboo
rods. I like teaching both fly tying and rod making. If you ever get a
chance to come to the US and visit with me, I almost guarantee you would
want to make a bamboo rod, especially now that I know you were a
machinist. Better yet, spend a week with us and take home your bamboo blank.

Tony!
There is one thing that intruiges me about bamboo and that is making
the blank too. What i have been doing until is not "making" a rod but
mounting a rod. The thought of making a flyrod my selve, from scratch
really apeals to me, i meen make the blank my selve, turn my own
reelseat, form the handle(did that on the T&T i made) and make my own
guides and then put i all together and go fishing :-)
I used to be a machinist, 6 years ago, now i work with computers and
don't have access to the tools :-(
I am a member of rodbuildingforum.com and have seen some of the bamboo
blanks they make over there, they are really pretty and it a bunch or
skilled people that post at that forum. Seeing some of the blanks make
me wanna make my own but it looks like you really have to know what
you are dooing when you set off to make bamboo and i know nothing
about it at all.
I seems i'm talking myselve more and more in to making a bamboo blank !?!?!
