Chuck, if you ever see carp 'sucking air' at the top of quiet pools,
carefully try throwing small dry flies at them. They are very spooky, and
must be approached cautiously, or you'll put them down. A small black ant
pattern works well. Cast a couple of feet in front of them and let them
approach the fly. How close you can fish and how far away they can see the
fly depends on water clarity.

A 30lb carp on a 3wt. would be well worth the effort.

Rodney: TODAY I hope.... The river here is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy down, and my
wife and I rode down yesterday to check out a sand bar we fish on when the
water is down.. It WAS down, and in that bend, there were HUGE Carp (5-30
pounders or more ), just boiling the water. I flew back to the house to get
my fly rods, and some Chili Peppers I had tied, and the bottom dropped out,
and thunder and lightening everywhere.. So, today.. I hope to haul in a cpl
of these monsters..... I'll take pics , IF I catch anything, Chuck
