Reuven,
Snowshoe hair is hair from the heel of a snowshoe hare, an American hare (Lepus Americanus). The hair is very crinkly and hydrophobic, which makes it a great material for wings, especially on emergers. One of the best known patterns that uses the material is the Usual. If you want to see many patterns with this type of fur, check Hans' site; use the search function. More about the material is in Leeson/Schollmayer's book Emergers, and in one of the last issues of Flytyer magazine.
Pics of the feet are at Byard's site http://www.linesend.com/product/hair.shtml
