Snowshoe hair is hair from the heel of a snowshoe
hare, an American hare (Lepus Americanus). The hair is very crinkly and
hydrophobic, which makes it a great material for wings, especially on emergers.
One of the best known patterns that uses the material is the Usual. If you want
to see many patterns with this type of fur, check Hans' site; use the search
function. More about the material is in Leeson/Schollmayer's book Emergers, and
in one of the last issues of Flytyer magazine.
