Hi all,
Regarding the material swap: Mine went with my wife just now to the post- office. Should be in today's mail. The Porcupine quills were washed in dish soap, air- dried, frozen overnight, thawed, washed in Woolite, air- dried, then microwaved for 2 minutes, and lastly shock- frozen in an air-tight bag in liquid- nitrogen... even with all of this, and even though I severely doubt any bug would want to grow/ live on porcupine quills after all of this stuff, be cautious with these things! They smell like smelly feet, and that bothers me... also the barbs are still there, so that's another thing to be cautious of. The muskrat-dyed-brown is clean in every way I know of - it was washed in dish soap, air-dried. autoclaved for 90 minutes at 121*C and 20psi, air-dried, then shock-frozen in liquid nitrogen (in a liquid/ air- tight bag). In any case, the porcupine quills were bagged up into 25 bags in the one air-tight bag, and
still have barbs on them; the muskrat is a pelt that hasn't been cut up. Everything went out today, Lord willing.
Thanks again, and tight wraps,
Pete
