Jimmy, thanks for the info. I would have
tried for at least five.
Seriously, tho, the one the girl is holding looks
like an Adele or rock-hopper- way too small. The emporer I want stands
over 3' tall.

Subject: [VFB] Was Polar Bear. Now
Penguins in Wreck
Believe it or not, but an 18 wheeler hauling a bunch of
penguins and fish from one zoo to another flipped over in East Texas a couple
weeks ago. One penguin was killed in the wreck and 3 more by a passing
car. One escaped, but was later seen being put into a car with Wyoming
plates, by a heavy set silver headed man, who was chuckling and dancing and
clapping his hands. He was mumbling something about, "Won't Bugs be
proud of me." Helluva way to get penguin feathers. ;-) The rest were gathered up
and taken on to the Galveston zoo. It was reported that all the fish
died, but that was inaccurate as told me by the Curator of the Waco Zoo, who
was the one shipping the fish.
I've been planning a trip to east
Texas to gather some penguin feathers from the median. :-P

You need to let your Penguin fetish die now. I finally found the treaty
that protects the penguins.....
http://www.scar.org/treaty/signatories.html
And yes.... Australia has signed it so Reuven can't send you a penguin
pelt.
Get over it already. LOL
Love you dearly.

I couldn't remember the name of the town.... The name doesn't sound
familiar but you might be right. They had a lot of polar bears!
Thanks Neville!

Deb:
I think you may be referring to Churchill Manitoba. It is the polar bear
capital of Canada if not the world.
Churchill is a town on the shore of Hudson Bay in Manitoba, Canada,
situated
at 58°43′30″N,
94°07′00″W. The small community stands at the
juncture
of two eco regions: the boreal forest to the south, and the Arctic
tundra
to
the north. It had a population of 963 in the 2001 Census.
It is most famous for the many polar bears that move toward the shore
from
inland in the autumn, leading to the nickname "Polar Bear Capital of the
World" that has helped its growing tourism industry.
Canada's only main port on the Arctic Sea, Churchill is linked to the
rest
of the country only by the Hudson Bay Railway.
Great hair for steelhead flies!

Wow! Where does your daughter live? That story reminds me of the town
in
Alaska that has big problems with Polar bears. They can't even send
their
kids out trick or treating without a police escort. They have a Polar
bear
jail for problem bears where they can lock them up until the water
freezes
over again and then they release them so they will return to the ice.
Talk about some grumpy bears. I think I'd have to take a pass on that
fly
tying material.

Deb
