Use a sharp scalpel, beginning from the rear under the tail, and slicing as you move forward. Keep the fly in a vice!! it is relatively simple after this to pull the other bits off.

I have been trying to strip some old flies, (read bad ties or just beat up), off of the hooks so I can use them again. It is a sordid task at best. Does anyone have any tips on how to do it an easy way without so much frustration? Other than dumping them in an ash tray and setting them on fire???? Jimi
