Two thoughts, If the bench is going to be seen in the house look at sale
rooms for a writing desk or writing bureaux(desk with book case on top).
lots of drawers and fold down desk
If its going to be unseen in the basement, find your nearest kitchen
fitters suppliers, get a couple of multi drawer fitted kitchen base units
and a length of bench top. base units come in 300mm, 400mm, 500mm & 600mm
widths
Install leaving kneehole and dont forget a surface mounted electrical socket
on the bench top for a lamp.
