Yesterday I had my first day of fishing this year.
Neat afternoon at the Erft,, my home water.
I was near to quit fishing (had 3 chub already), when I saw a fish,
which tried to catch a frog. The frog literally was running over the
water. Finally he had success, and did escape.
I switches to a popper pattern (white head, green feathers as tail and
some red eyes), and worked it through the water. Splashing, gurgling
etc. No dead drift.
Finally the fish couldn't resists and took the fly. It was a furious
take. One big jump, for sure, it was a brown trout.. When I brought her
to hand, I saw that she had swallowed the hook very deep, thefore I
decided, that we share dinner. The trout on the dish, and I before the
table <G>.
All in all a great day to start into the season.
