For what is worth I upgraded my motherboard to the latest BIOS version
available (3101, iirc) which supposedly brings fixes "stability issues".
I have then tried to rebuild my previous environment step by step and so
far have NOT experienced any issue. I used to use the same intel
microcode that I use now, so I don't see this change in behavior but due
to the motherboard's firmware upgrade.
