I used the quickcam express and it works OK. Be careful with the chip
number, there are several models. There is a label in the cable. I am
using 2.2.18.

hello:

has anyone used the quickcam express successfully?

i have loaded and built kernel 2.4.12 with all the relevant usb options
selected, built usbutils, and build qce-ga-0.40b. a snippet from lsusb:

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 046d:0870 Logitech Inc.
Device Descriptor:
  bLength 18
  bDescriptorType 1
  bcdUSB 1.10
  bDeviceClass 255 Vendor Specific Class
  bDeviceSubClass 255 Vendor Specific Subclass
  bDeviceProtocol 255 Vendor Specific Protocol
  bMaxPacketSize0 8
  idVendor 0x046d Logitech Inc.
  idProduct 0x0870
  bcdDevice 1.00
  iManufacturer 0
  iProduct 1 Camera
  iSerial 0
  bNumConfigurations 1

i insmod'd the driver in qce, mod_quickcam.o, and did a "mknod /dev/quick c
180 80". then i ran quickcam which put out this information:

Camera ID 0870
HDCS1000-sensor ident: 8
This Quickcam has a HDCS1000 sensor!
Sharing memory.
Init HDCS1000 sensor
SHUTTER 128
START
------ Found Sync 00 00 02, sum 0

*but*, the quickcam box is quite black. ack!

any suggestions and/or ideas would be great....

What we need is either less corruption, or more chance to participate in
it.
