Thanks for your help.
The error was on the /etc/lilo.conf file

I was using wrongly:
    append="hdc=ide-scsi,mem=200M"
So I changed to:
    append="mem=230M"

Now the vcat application when using with the rawtoppm is working, but the
xcaptest isn't showing the image properly.

I'm sending another e-mail to the list explaining this problem.
